Band-e-Alikhan Wetland is located at 35 km south of the Varamin Township. This wetland is seasonal and considers as a sorts of wetlands with fresh water.
Its height is 1100 m above the sea level. It is formed every year due to the flowing of seasonal rivers and the surface waters of Tehran city by the beginning of the rainy season (early autumn).
In the summer months due to the lack of rainfall and high rate of evaporation, it turns to swamp or sewage and sometimes it is completely dry.
