Alagol Wetland is the biggest lake in the Golestan province.
It is located in Gonbad -e Kavus city and beside Inche boron city. This lake is about 75 km away from the town of Kavoos and, has 2.5 meters depth. Alagol is located 60 km from north of Gonbad-e Kāvus and on east part of Agh Ghal to Inche boron road.
In full water time, it has 2500 acres and 5/2 meters depth.
Atrak River provides water for this lagoon. Some of surrounding points are covered with straws and shrubs. The ground in most part is covered with algae.
Each year in migration season, thousands of birds come to these wetlands. Types of swan, flamingo, duck, coot, goose, and the Balkans plover can be seen there.
Alagol is a salt water lake, so farming of the Caspian’s sea fish particularly white fish has flourished in this area.
Alagol, almagol, Ajigol as international wetlands were recorded in the Ramsar convention in 1975, and it is under the protection of the environment organization.
