This stone castle is located in 15 km from Gonabad city, in Shoorab Village.
There is a garden, underneath the castle, called “Kalateh” that belongs to the boys of countryside.
The etymology of the name Dokhtar Castle (The Maiden Castle) is because of its attribution to Venus ( the goddess of blessing and beauty) that was worshiped and respected by Iranians before the commencement of Islam in Iran.
The castle belongs to Sasanid and Saljooqi ages. It’s composed of three architectural spaces; the lower part is the entrance of the castle that consists of a circular tower and wide ranges of roofed corridors with wide walls, the upper side was devoted to the halls, enormous rooms and circular or semi-circular towers.
According to the available evidence this castle has been restored and expended during Islamic period.
