This wetland covers an area of 2,300 ha and located in Baraftab and Kalar Mountains foot, near the town of Boldaji. The vast area, fine weather and nice landscapes along with the songs and flights of native and migrant birds make it one of the most important tourism attractions of the area.
The specialty of this pond is the existence of a kind of fish belong to the family of Gambozia (mosquitofish). The best seasons in this pondlocated along Shahr Kord-
khuzestan road are spring and summer.
At present, due to favorable conditions of rainfalls, the depth of this wetland has reached 1.5 m.
The Kelar Mountain Ranges are to the southwest of this wetland, the highest peak of which being 3,830 m. above sea level. This wetland is surrounded by a vast expansion of meadows which cover an area of about 700 hectars.
This region experiences humid weather with moderate summers and cold winters. The said area is one of the noted summer resort for Chahar Mahal Va Bakhtiyari.
The Choqakhor wetland forms a natural habitat for species of birds such as ducks, geese, white ostriches and flamingos. Anchovy is a fish variety which survived in these waters.

...see more Wetland is considered to be one of the most important sites in Iran for the endemic Zagros pupfish (Aphanius vladykovi). It is important for flood control, ground water replenishment, and is generally considered a reservoir for biodiversity.
Plants with important medicinal properties (e.g. Achillea millefolium) can be harvested, and locals engage in livelihood activities such as fishing and agriculture.
Threats to the site include the collection of bird eggs and poaching. Dam construction in 1991 has caused increasing water levels in the wetland which in turn, has affected the availability of bird habitats.
The Department of Environment is responsible for the management of this site.
