Izadkhast Martyrs dam is located 65 kilometers far from
Abadeh city in
Fars province and has been constructed on Izadkhast River near Izadkhast village.
Izadkhast River originates from Morvarid mountain’s heights in northern part of
Fars province. Passing Ghale Goory village and irrigating the lands this river will join Gavkhooni morass.
The purpose of this project was to provide water for 1200 hectares of the downstream farmlands, 400 hectares of these lands are to be developed and the remaining to be improved.
it is an arcuated dam that its middle part is broken and now just two parts of it is remained in the right and left banks of the river.
The Dam’s characteristics:
- Type: earthfill with clay core
- Height: 37.5m from the bottom of the river
- Crest Length: 296m
- Crest Width: 10m
- Bottom Width: 313m
- Adjustable Water Volume: 15 million cubic meters per year
- Spillway: Concrete Ogee Spillway (40m long and 6m high)

Mahdi Farshad mentioned this dam is the first arcuated dam in the world and it belongs to Sasanid era.
