This aggregate was central nucleolus of Akbarieh Village in the Past. It was constructed as a multi-purpose complex as governmental and residential. Some parts of this building belonged to Alam family.
Akbarieh Garden in
Birjand,
South Khorasan province, will be registered on UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2011, paving the way for the registration of other historical sites of the province.
Announcing this, the head of
South Khorasan Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Department, Mohammadpour, told the Persian daily Khorasan that 552 historical sites have been registered on the National Heritage List and 500 more are undergoing the registration process.
“This shows the province is rich in terms of historical attractions,” he said.
Situated on a mountainous village with the same name, Akbarieh Garden covers an area of 45,069 square meters. It was registered on the National Heritage List two years ago.

There are Pomegranate, berry and palm trees in the garden. Mohammadpour noted that studies have been conducted at seven exemplary tourism sites, of which three have been ceded to the private sector for investment.
The official noted that promoting the province’s handicrafts and participating in different exhibitions are among his department’s programs.
The central part was used for governmental and administration activities. There are different parts in this aggregate like portal, edifice, stable, bath, wine house, administration section, ceremony hall, pool and… This aggregate, covering an area of 45,069 Square meters, is constructed east to west and is presently used as library and College of Art.
