Atashgah is a village in Kamalabad Rural District, in the Central District of Karaj County, Alborz Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 520, in 137 families.
The historical village of Atashgah, situated in the northwestern metropolis of Karaj in Alborz province, has beautiful natural attractions and monuments.
The village has the potential for attracting foreign tourists, if only more attention is paid to it, Mehr News Agency reported.
Atashgah Village has been identified as one of the most ancient sites of Karaj. it is a serene village with plenty of natural attractions.
The village is located in an eye-catching landscape and its hospitable residents welcome visitors warmly.
The village is situated over 2,500 hectares and has old residential houses, orchards, pastures and mountains.
The village dates back to hundreds of years and is among the first places in Iran where husbandry and agriculture were practiced.
Relics dating back to Sassanid and Ashkanid eras have been unearthed in the village and Zoroastrians were the prime residents of the village.

There are mountains near the village containing a type of stone that produces fire when rubbed together and noting that the village is named Atashgah, meaning the place of fire, because of this natural phenomenon.
Tal-e Mahdikhani and Dobaradar Castle are among historical sites of the village dating back to the Sassanid era.

Evidences of a fire temple and red stones, which have the potential of producing fire, have been found near the village.
Pirpiran Castle is another historical attraction of the village dating back to more than 3,000 years.
