Ramsar is a popular sea resort for Iranian tourists.
Ramsar has more than 50 hot springs, and some of them are used as spas by the public and vacationers.
There are many hot-springs in the city which have high radium concentrations.
Its HLEBRAs are dynamic and are formed by the water from the springs containing a high Ra concentration such as 146 kBq m-3 which flow into the surrounding areas [8, 11].
Such a dynamic situation indicates that for any meaningful health-related study in such areas, public effective doses from external and internal exposures, indoors, and outdoors, should be retrospectively and precisely known.
The purpose of this study wasto identify the possible new areas in
Ramsar with HLEBR and also reveal dynamic nature of these areas with regard to previously published reports.
Ramsar is a popular sea resort for Iranian tourists.
The town also offers hot springs, the green forests of the
Alborz Mountains, the vacation palace of the last Shah, and the Hotel
Ramsar.

Ramsar's Talesh Mahalleh district is the most radioactive inhabited area known in the world, due to nearby hot springs and building materials originating from them.
The radioactivity is due to the local geology. Underground water dissolves radium in uraniferous igneous rock and carries it to the surface through at least nine known hot springs.
These are used as spas by locals and tourists.
