Minoo Island is a palm-grove region which is located on the southwest side of Abadan airport. Due to its location, in the centre of Arvand Rod River, this region is like an island.
The old name of this island was Salbokh which means grit in Arabic. Its new name is Minoo Shahr. This island has a common frontier with Iran on the east side and with Iraq on the west side.
In terms of administrative divisions, Minoo Island was a part of Khoram Shahr Township but nowadays it is in the area of Abadan Township. Minoo Shahr is connected to Abadan and Khoram Shahr with a metal bridge which has a length of 210 m and a width of 8 m.
