Maybod Robat (inn) or Caravanseray is located net to city rampart. This Caravanseray is considered as one of the most complete complex of road maintenance of ancient age.
From location viewpoint it is located exactly at Kasnava Qanats spring and near Maybod western gate. But it is certain that Robat is the main core of this caravanseray complex.
And other facilities had been established during many years because of more welfare of convoy members. These spaces include spring source and Qanat parts, rampart, Shahrestan gate, caravanseray, water reservoir, pony express, brick refrigerator and cemetery.
One parts of this complex is road maintenance office of the small market that is located between caravanseray and water reservoir. As you know, the urban Caravanserais were considered as today city centers that the neighbor chambers usually were exchanging some special goods.The beautiful ceiling of small market manifests more beautiful in light spectrum, so attracts eyes to decorations under ceiling, corners and its decorative works.
But water reservoir of this complex is located right in front of caravanseray entrance and its petrograph belongs to 11th century A.H. Spaces of Maybod caravanseray include: Sabat with Yazdibandi coverage, external verandas, and an entrance vestibule with two rooms reach to corridor that is at both sides and open, big centeral yard where four fold verandas reach to it.
Maybod Caravanseray includes 100 residential units with verandas, rooms and facilities for ancient travels. At yard center, there is a high platform under where there is sub cannel of Kasnava Qanat.
This octagonal platform has also octagonal pool at lower section that gives clean water to the passengers.It seems that upper section of the platform had been used for celebration and show arts.
4 vestibules at four corners of Robat are connectors of central yard with eastern and western rooms.In another section of Maybod caravanseray we go to visit pileless Carpet museum.
