The Saad abad Palace and museum complex in
Tehran is a palace constructed by the Pahlavi dynasty of
Iran in the
Shemiran area in north of
Tehran and currently official residence of the President of
Iran.
The Saad abad Palace and museum complex was first inhabited by Qajar monarchs and royal family in 19th century.
After the Islamic Revolution in 1978, the Saad abad palace and museum complex became a museum.
However, the current presidential palace is located adjacent to the Sa'dabad compound.
At the uphill end of the complex, the more classical-looking Green Palace was built at the end of the Qajar era and extensively remodeled by the Pahlavis.
Reza Shah lived here just for one year and apparently found the bed. It was later used as a private reception hall (upstairs) and residence (downstairs) for special guests.
The design is over-the-top opulent, with wall-to-wall mirrors in the appropriately named Mirror Hall and the bedroom.
The museum features superb stucco carvings and mirror-works and houses Iranians
