Golshan garden or Afif Abad Garden is located in shiraz and has an area of 127 thousand sq.m.
It contains a former royal mansion, a historical weapons museum, and a Persian garden, all open to the public.
The current main building was constructed by Mirza Ali Mohammadkhan Ghawam II in 1863. He bought a nearby ghanat to water his garden. After his death, the garden was eventually inherited by Afife, so it is called Afif Abad.
The two-storey building has been constructed at the request of Mohammed Khan Qavamol-Molk about two hundred years ago. The baths, ceramic work and tea house are well worth seeing.
Afif Abad Garden is a unique display of seasonal flower designs .It has been used by Safavid Kings during their spring trips. Concerning the architecture and design, the garden was inspired by Acheamenid, Sassanid, and Qajar styles.
A beautiful mansion is in the heart of the Garden and gets and enormous view from the garden.
At present this building belongs to the Defense Ministry and a museum of arms has been established in this structure. Personal weapons of Fathali Shah, Nasseredin Shah, Mozafaredin Shah, Reza Shah, and Mohammadreza Shah are among the notable preserved weapons of the museum.
